VHS Recordings

Our VHS tapes are recorded in the SP mode (NTSC only) using video masters that were made from the best available original film elements.

DVD-R Recordings

Our DVD-R'S are recorded in the FR mode (NTSC only, Region 1) using DVD masters that were made from the best available original film elements.

DVD-R discs are compatible in most newer DVD players. Virtually all current and future DVD players from major companies (Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, JVC, etc.) are or will be DVD-R compatible. Many current DVD players are DVD-R compatible even though DVD-R discs are not listed on their disc compatibility charts. If you are unsure of the DVD-R compatibility status of your current DVD player, simply go to the following website for a comprehensive list of most older DVD players and their model numbers.

AN IMPORTANT WORD
ABOUT OUR DVD-R PRODUCT

PLEASE READ!

If you have ordered our DVD product in the past or are about to order it for the first time it is essential that you read the following…

The conversion to DVD has been a great challenge for Sinister Cinema. We had many customers who loved our initial DVD offerings. Still, there were numerous unforeseen problems. Initially, there were inexplicable difficulties with DVD-R media (discs). This had to do with the dyes used when the discs were manufactured. Some would play fine at first, then break up during subsequent plays. Some discs would play fine on one DVD player but not on another. When re-mastering titles from our film library into the DVD format, we found that some of these new masters would produce copies that would look terrific on one TV, but look grainy and washed out on another. There were other problems as well. Many customers trying our initial DVD titles became discouraged by these problems.
We would like to apologize to any customers who experienced trouble with our DVD titles or long delays in receiving their orders. THESE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED, and we would like to invite you back.

What have we done? We are now using a higher grade of media, which has eliminated the aforementioned problems almost entirely. More importantly, we have corrected the problem that caused grainy playback on certain DVD/TV setups and have re-mastered affected titles. The new masters show no signs of the previous playback difficulties. Thus, we can assure you these problems have been taken care of, and we hope you will give our DVD-R product a second chance. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or write. We thank you all for your past and future patronage. As a way of thanking all of you, we have brought back the SUPER $99 SALE as well as TWO ADDITIONAL GREAT SALES. Click on the "Current Sales" category at the top of this page to check them out.
